Yeah, so being opened minded is the key, right?
I wanted to blog about this but someone beat me to it. Heh...
I just find those people who let their religion get in the way of quote 'That Happy Ending' pretty darn stupid.
If you love that person, then dammit a little sacrifice such as letting that person think for themselves and follow whatever religion they want to follow (or not follow any) shouldn't hurt much.
If you really liked that person.
Compromise, acceptance, open-mindedness and understanding play a role in making a relationship work out. Give-and-take and all that yadda yadda.
Everyone has different views and opinions. That's what makes life interesting.
If everyone would be to just agree with everyone else, then hell, book me on the next flight to Mars.
It'd be so pathetic and boring and we'd have one colour, one type of food, one drink, one fashion trend, one ice cream flavour (noooooo~!), one book, one hobby and one religion.
Seriously, next flight to Mars.
Ok, your supposedly soulmate's views differs from yours. So?
Big friggin deal. If he or she likes it and it's not doing anyone any harm then live with it, duh.
Let them do what they want. If they convert, they convert. It's their choice, not yours. And giving them up isn't gonna make either party happy.
All religions have a root point where it just means being good and all that. It's not so different after all. Gasp. -.-
Unless it's some sort of self-destructive one or on that does like, human sacrifices. O.o
And if you really love the person in the first place, it has to do with who the person is, right? And part of that is whatever that other half of yours believes in.
I wouldn't care if whoever I was with was of another religion or a free thinker, as long as we're happy and accept each other and make the best of it. And my children can choose whatever they want too.
And no crap about 'He has to be this this this, then only I can be happy!'
Yeah uhuh, go on with that attitude and the next thing you know, BAM! You're a sixty year old spinster living alone with nine cats and reeks of cat litter.
Even then, it doesn't have to be about love. Cutting off a great friendship because of religious differences doesn't really makes sense either.
Grow up. Throwing away a perfectly beautiful and happy future just because you want the person to be something they're not is idiocy.
Lets all be open minded and sing songs about rainbows and pink ponies! No really, accept people for who they are with no prejudism attached.
Ok? Ok. Yay!
Love your religion. Just let other people love theirs too.
Saddhu,

P.S.: Yeah ok, this goes against some religions' beliefs. Don't flame me! D:
